Advertising and commercial clarity
Evance may support its editorial work through carefully identified advertising or partnerships. Commercial activity must not make the publication misleading, pressure readers into a purchase or blur the difference between paid placement and independent editorial work.
At the time of review, the site does not run third-party display advertising, and any commercial item would be added only under this policy. The policy covers banners, sponsored articles, affiliate links, product supply for review and event partnerships. It applies equally to every advertiser, whatever the size of the budget. Readers can use it to judge whether something on the site is paid for.
The rules apply from the first day any commercial arrangement begins, and they are checked against Indonesian advertising and consumer protection requirements, including Law No. 8 of 1999 on Consumer Protection. Revenue from advertising is not the reason for any article to exist. If commercial income ever became a significant share of the budget, we would say so on this page.
1. Identification
Paid placements, sponsored articles and partner messages will use clear labels such as Advertisement or Sponsored. Labels will be visible before a reader relies on the message and will not be hidden in pale text.
Labels use text at normal reading size with sufficient contrast and are placed above or beside the item. A sponsored article carries its label at the top, and a sponsor's name is included where it is not obvious. Affiliate links, if ever used, are marked next to the link or in a note at the start of the page. Paid items are visually distinct from editorial ones so that they cannot be mistaken for articles.
Paid items would not use the same headline style, byline or layout as independent reporting. They would not appear in article lists, summaries or newsletter sections reserved for editorial content. Where a link leads to an advertiser's site, the link is marked and, where practical, opens with a short notice that the reader is leaving Evance.
- (a) Advertisement: a paid message supplied by an advertiser.
- (b) Sponsored: content supported financially by a named organisation.
- (c) Partner content: a joint activity with a stated role for each party.
2. Editorial independence
Advertisers do not approve independent articles, research notes, corrections or safety wording. Editorial staff may decline a campaign when its claims conflict with evidence or the interests of readers.
A sponsor may be shown a factual summary of how its message will appear, but it may not edit independent pages or see them before they are published. If a campaign is withdrawn by the advertiser, related editorial content is not removed for that reason. Editors keep a written note of each decision to accept or decline a campaign, along with the reason. This record is kept for 36 months.
- (a) Advertisers cannot request the removal of critical coverage.
- (b) Advertisers cannot see drafts, sources or correspondence from readers.
- (c) Payment does not change the order, prominence or tone of independent articles.
3. Prohibited claims
Evance will not knowingly publish claims that guarantee athletic outcomes, promise cures, imply universal results or create artificial urgency. Health and performance claims require appropriate substantiation and careful context.
Examples of what would be declined include statements that a product will produce a set amount of change in a set time, comparisons that name a competitor without evidence, before-and-after claims, and wording that suggests a reader is at fault for not buying. Claims that touch on health must be supported by sources a reader can check and must not suggest treatment or prevention of a condition. We also decline offers that rely on countdowns or claims of scarcity.
Each proposed message is read by two editors before it is accepted. They look for exact numbers that lack a source, words that suggest certainty, and images that imply a result. If a claim can be supported only in part, we ask the advertiser to describe the limits in the message itself. Where an advertiser cannot supply evidence within ten business days, the message is declined.
4. Suitable categories
We consider products and services that are relevant to training, wellbeing, education or practical sport. We may reject categories that exploit vulnerability, target children inappropriately or conflict with applicable Indonesian law.
Categories we will not accept include tobacco and vaping products, alcohol, gambling, adult content, weapons, illegal drugs and any product presented as a medicine without proper registration. We are also cautious about dietary products, and we will not run messages for them that include health or performance claims. Financial promises and schemes promising income are not accepted. The list may be extended when new risks are identified.
Services such as training facilities, courses and events are considered when the provider can show relevant qualifications or licences. We ask how the provider handles personal data and whether it publishes clear terms. A category that is acceptable in general may still be declined for a specific advertiser if its past conduct raises concern.
5. Reviews
Independent reviews are not advertising. Where a product has been supplied, that fact will be disclosed and the writer retains the ability to describe limitations, uncertainty and a decision not to recommend it.
A review states what was supplied, how long it was used and by whom, and which tests were applied. If the writer found a shortcoming, it is described. The supplier does not read the review before publication, and the item does not have to be returned in any particular condition. If the writer would normally have bought the item, that does not change the independence of the review.
Items supplied for review are not kept as payment. They are returned, donated or disposed of at the end of the review period, and we state which in the piece. Affiliate arrangements, if ever introduced, would be disclosed in the same way and would not influence which products are covered or what conclusion is reached.
6. Data and targeting
Evance does not sell contact-form information to advertisers. Optional measurement or advertising cookies will not be enabled without the relevant choice and explanation in the cookie policy.
Advertisers do not receive lists of readers, and they do not receive the content of messages. If measurement is introduced to report on a campaign, it will be in aggregate form, such as the total number of views. Personalised advertising based on browsing across other sites is not used. Any change would be shown here and in the cookie policy before it begins, and it would require your consent in advance.
Reporting to an advertiser would be limited to totals, such as the number of times a message was displayed. We would not give an advertiser any identifier that could be linked to a person, and any measurement provider would be bound by a written agreement on data use. Measurement records would be kept for no more than 14 months. Your rights to access, correct and delete personal information are explained in the privacy policy.
7. Partners
Partners must provide accurate business details, lawful claims and a contact route for complaints. A commercial relationship does not mean Evance verifies every service beyond the checks stated in the specific article.
Before accepting a partner, we ask for its legal name, a registered address, a contact person and evidence of any licence required for the activity. We check that its public statements are consistent with the claims it wants to run. A partner who changes its terms or its claims during a campaign must tell us promptly. If a partner stops meeting the standards of this policy, we may end the arrangement and remove its content.
Agreements with partners are in writing and state the scope of the activity, how it will be labelled, the length of the arrangement and how either side can end it. They also state that Evance keeps full control of editorial content. Copies are kept for 36 months after the end of the arrangement, and a reader who has a question about a partner may ask us what role the partner has.
8. Complaints
Readers may report a misleading advertisement by contacting Jalan Anggrek Raya No. 15, Kemang, Jakarta Selatan 12730, Indonesia or +62 817 9345 1820. Include the page, date and claim so the team can investigate.
We acknowledge a complaint within five business days and aim to complete a review within 15 business days. The outcome may be to keep the message, change it, add a clarification or remove it. We will tell you the result if you left contact details. Consumer concerns about the product or service itself should also be directed to the advertiser and, where relevant, to the Indonesian consumer protection authority.
Complaint records show the date received, the message concerned, the decision and the date of the reply. They are kept for 36 months, and the reporter's contact details are deleted 24 months after the last exchange. If you disagree with the outcome, you can ask for a second review by a different editor, which we complete within 30 days.
9. Corrections
If a paid message contains an error, Evance may pause, amend or remove it. A commercial partner cannot require Evance to leave a materially misleading statement online.
When a paid message is amended, the change is recorded with the date, and where a reader could have been affected by an earlier version, a brief note explains the difference. Refunds or credits to the advertiser do not depend on the content being left in place. If a regulator asks us to change or remove a message, we will do so promptly.
- (a) Pause: a message is taken down while a concern is examined, usually within two business days of a credible report.
- (b) Amend: wording is corrected and the dated note explains the change.
- (c) Remove: a message that cannot be made accurate is withdrawn, and the advertiser is told why.
10. Review
This policy took effect on 1 January 2026 and was reviewed on 1 October 2026. It will be reconsidered when advertising formats or relevant Indonesian rules change.
Reviews take place at least once a year, and the dated log below records what changed. Questions about this policy can be sent to Jalan Anggrek Raya No. 15, Kemang, Jakarta Selatan 12730, Indonesia or raised at +62 817 9345 1820.
We acknowledge questions about this policy within five business days. The annual review checks whether the declined categories still reflect current risks, whether labels are readable on every device and whether complaints show a pattern that calls for stricter rules. Proposed changes are published here at least 14 days before they take effect, so that readers and partners can see them first.
- 1 January 2026: first version published.
- 1 October 2026: annual review; labels, declined categories and review disclosure wording expanded.
Further detail on advertising and sponsorship
Current position
At the time of this review, Evance does not display paid placements, sponsored articles or affiliate links. Any paid campaign that points readers to this site is a separate activity and does not change what appears in the articles. Should paid content ever be introduced, it will be labelled clearly and placed apart from editorial pages.
Standards for any future partner content
- Partner material is marked with a visible label such as “Sponsored” at the top of the page.
- Partners cannot review, change or approve editorial text before publication.
- Claims about health, performance or body composition are not accepted, and statements must be checked by two editors.
- Products related to alcohol, tobacco, gambling, weapons, adult content or supplements making health claims are not accepted.
- Agreements are written and kept on file for 36 months.
Data and advertising
Evance does not sell personal data and does not build advertising profiles of its readers. Analytics cookies are used only after consent, as set out in the cookie policy. Any future advertising cookies would require a separate choice in the cookie banner.
